Day 1: Introduction to Sports Massage
Session 1: Overview of Sports Massage
Understanding the role of sports massage in athletic performance and recovery.
Discussion of the differences between sports massage and other types of massage therapies.
Session 2: Anatomy and Physiology for Sports Massage
Overview of relevant anatomy, including major muscle groups and their functions.
Understanding the physiological responses to massage, including circulation, muscle relaxation, and pain relief.
Day 2: Techniques and Applications
Session 3: Sports Massage Techniques
Learning specific techniques, including:
Effleurage: To warm up muscles before activity.
Petrissage: To release muscle tension and improve flexibility.
Friction: To break down scar tissue and adhesions.
Tapotement: To stimulate muscle and increase circulation.
Introduction to stretching techniques for athletes.
Session 4: Hands-on Practice
Participants will practice sports massage techniques on each other, focusing on areas commonly stressed in sports (back, legs, shoulders).
Emphasis on proper body mechanics and technique application to prevent injury to the therapist.
Day 3: Application in Sports Settings
Session 5: Assessing Athletes’ Needs
Techniques for evaluating an athlete’s physical condition and specific areas of tension or pain.
Developing customized treatment plans based on individual needs and goals.
Session 6: Sports Massage Protocols

Course Requirements:
This course is open to licensed massage therapists or students currently enrolled in a massage therapy program.
Participants should wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.
All necessary tools, oils, and materials will be provided during the course.
Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate in Sports Massage, qualifying them to provide sports massage services in various athletic settings.
